I've only known I was pregnant for 2 days, but this is my favorite moment so far.
I always imagined Nick would be with me when I found out. However, Monday I decided I wanted to sleep in for an hour or so. I was feeling crampy and just didn't think I was pregnant, so I wasn't anxious to get up. Anyway, after Nick left I had two short, vivid dreams. I found out I was pregnant in both of them. After the second one I decided to get up and take a test. I had some cheap ones in the house. I took the first one and thought I saw a line, but I wasn't sure. I took a different brand one (Walmart Cheapie), and there was a definite line. Faint, but there. I knew if I showed that to Nick, he'd be skeptical. I took out the dog out since it had been about an hour since Nick left and he is NOT potty trained yet. I went to Walmart (it's the closest thing to our house), and got a bib that said, "I Love Daddy," and a two pack of digital tests. I came home and took it. It told me I'd have to wait up to three minutes. I left the room, and it read "Pregnant" by the time I came back about 2 minutes later.
Then it was time to get thinking about how I was going to tell Nick. I always figured I'd just hand him the test, and that would be it, BUT I had all day to think about it and figured I could do better than that. I went to Target to try to find a card to give him. I looked in all the categories and finally settled on a blank card. I got a yellow bag. I looked at the baby gift bags, but I didn't want to give it away. I figured it was a big enough giveaway to give him a gift. I went to the baby section to see if I could find anything else to go with the bib that would be a little less obvious. I found a hungry caterpillar toy, and I was set. Well, then I saw a onesie that said "Pint Size" on it with a pic of a cow. I couldn't resist since we are both farm kids, even thought most people know Nick isn't a huge fan of cattle.
When I got home, I wrote in the card in the voice of baby Schuler, which included my EDD- St. Patty's Day. I put all three tests in the card and sealed it. That went at the bottom of the bag. On top of that I put the bib. That is the biggest giveaway besides the positive tests. On top of that the onesie. On the very top I put the caterpillar. Then, I sealed the bag.
Here it is:
Nick sent me a text saying he was having some people stop over to look at our basement (we are thinking of installing a bathroom), so when he got home, I had to wait some more. When we were alone, he took out the dog, and I got the bag out of the office. I told him I had a present for him, but that it was from someone else, not me... He was confused. He later told me that he thought I was going to say it was from the dog. He asked me who it was from, and I said I couldn't say.
He shook the bag, and thought it sounded like a dog toy. Oh my, my clueless husband.
The caterpillar came out first. Then he saw the onesie. The pic below is him asking simply, "Are you?!?" I just shrugged my shoulders and started to tear up.

Out comes the bib. There's no question now. Look at him beaming. It'd been a while since I saw him smile like he did Monday when I told him!
Last was the card with the tests in it!
It was adorable to see Nick's reaction. I am so glad I got it on camera. We hugged and it was a great moment!
Here is a pic of everything after Nick opened his gift. I was sitting to close as he was opening to get shots of each thing.
Nick and I are so excited to be expecting our first!
