5 weeks

Your embryo (looking kind of like a tadpole) is starting to form major organs (heart, kidney, liver, stomach) and systems (nervous, circulatory, digestive). Baby's presence in your uterus triggers production of hCG (the hormone detected by pregnancy tests)... which triggers production of other hormones like estrogen and progesterone... which trigger all those great symptoms you've probably been noticing!

* How far along?: 5 weeks
* Total weight gain: +1 I am blaming fluctuating weight on that!
* How big is baby?: the size of an apple seed!
* Next appointment: Friday, August 28 at 1 PM
* Maternity clothes?: nope
* Stretch marks?: nope
* Sleep?: Weird dreams and exhaustion, but I am sleeping okay
* Best moment this week?: Nick won over $300 at the casino, so he is buying a video camera, so we can have video of Baby Schuler.  We want to buy it before we tell our parents, so we can also get their reactions.
* Movement?: Nope
* Food cravings?: No cravings besides Pancheros, which I always crave.
* Pregnancy symptoms: Sore, itchy breasts, Tired, Possible upset stomach (It's happened a few days, but I am not quite ready to chalk it up to MS)
* Labor signs?: Haha.
* Belly button in or out?: In.
*Gender: Nick seems to think it's a boy. We went to Babies R Us the other day since we were in DM and so we could get an idea about prices of things, etc. He says he has no idea/preference, but he constantly looked at boy stuff.
* What I miss: I am trying to cut caffeine down to at the very most once a day and ideally considerably less than that, so I am starting to miss Diet Coke and Diet Mountain Dew.
* What I'm looking forward to: Our first appointment.  I can't wait to hear the little heartbeat!
* Milestone: Baby's heart is now starting to beat
