Wes turns 6 on Monday. We will be in Florida and I'm home with a sick Norah, so now is a good time for a Wesley update.
Wes is enjoying kindergarten and learning so much. It's amazing how his reading is progressing. He is doing well with the books that get sent home with him each night and he's starting on the first grade sight word lists now.
His math skills impress me too but I honestly have no idea about how math skills develop like I do with reading. He does do a great job adding and counting by two and ten. He's getting great at recognizing and writing 2 digit numbers.
His class went to CY Stephens to see "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" earlier this week. He enjoyed that and riding the yellow school bus!
He takes his lunch once or twice a week most weeks. He still loves his pb&j sandwiches, Mac and cheese, or lunch ambles packed along with as much fruit as I can fit and fun treat. He especially likes if he can take leftovers in his thermos- spaghetti and meatballs or meatloaf are hits. His favorite school lunches are cheese pizza and grilled cheese and little smokies. They have birthday cake once a month which he loves too.
PE continues to be a highlight of his week. He has it twice a week and gets so excited. He also loves going to the school library once a week and choosing a book for us to read at home and his sharing day on Tuesdays is a highlight as well.
He's really enjoying the after school program. They are getting outside again more now for exercise after school which is great for him.
Besides school, he's currently in gymnastics two nights a week and he really enjoys it. Recital is coming up in a few weeks.
He's loving basketball season and Georges Niang is his favorite player. He's sad that we are done at Hilton for a while. He loves sitting with pop pop and eating Clone Cones.
He's also starting to like Wii, which I reluctantly let him start playing this winter when he needed to burn energy. It's got to be better than sitting and watching as he always does the active games. He needs work on hand eye coordination too.
We have also been doing Cosmic Kids Yoga with the kids and he really likes that also.
He's looking forward to the beach. His first plan is to dig a big hole. :) He is also hoping for lots of swimming. I'm excited to surprise him and Norah with our day at Disney. I hope they are as excited as I think they will be!
I'll leave you with this pic of Wesley trying on his Easter outift. 😍
