19 weeks

Vernix caseosa, a greasy white substance made of lanugo, oil and dead skin cells (yum) now coats baby's skin, shielding it from the amniotic fluid. (Picture yourself after a nine-month bath, and the need for protection makes sense.) You might actually get to see the vernix at birth, especially if baby is premature.

* How far along?: 19 weeks
* Total weight gain: down 2.5
* How big is baby?: about 6 inches long and a half a pound
* Next appointment: Friday
* Maternity clothes?: Still in the transition phase
* Stretch marks?: Nope
* Sleep?: I'm up 1-2 times a night to go the the bathroom. Some nights are okay, some are restless
* Best moment this week?: getting an awesome deal on Baby's travel system
* Movement?: I've felt baby a little off and on
* Food cravings?: I am having a major aversion to chicken. I can't think of anything I am craving
* Pregnancy symptoms: still the same- nausea and vomiting (though- knock on wood- this has been a little better), constant trips to the bathroom, lack of sleep
* Labor signs?: no
* Belly button in or out?: In
*Gender: Finding out in 2 days!
* What I miss: Still missing highly caffeinated warm drinks. A carmel latte sounds sooooo good.
* What I'm looking forward to: Friday's ultrasound!
* Milestone: Baby is now startled by loud noises.
