I head back to work tomorrow. It has been an awesome two months home with the kids. It wasn't quite as relaxing as last summer with just one kiddo and no continuing education credits, but it was a great one. I really enjoyed all the days with Wes and Norah
Swimming at Furman, Brookside, and our Backyard. We spent lots of time at the pools. Wes enjoys the beaver slide and Furman, and Norah learned to like sitting on the side and kicking her feet in the water. Furman stays open until Labor Day, so I am hoping for a few more pool days!
Unbelievably quick. It seems like just yesterday June 1 hit and I thought, "Over two months at home!" and now it's August 11!
Movies! We took Wes to a few movies this summer now that he is big enough to appreciate that. Nick took him to Despicable Me 2, I took him to Monsters University, and we both took him to Planes yesterday. So fun!
Mom. In the summer I get to focus on my most important job. I love being home and just being a mom in the summer. It makes up for all those late nights grading, emailing, and lesson planning. Just remind me of that in October when life is crazy!
Early rising. Not much sleeping in this summer with two kids. Sometimes one or the other would sleep in, but both of them on the same day? Not so much. I can say there are several days we would be on a walk or outside playing before 7:30. We were normally up before 7, though today they slept until 7:30 and 8, so tomorrow's 6:05 and 6:20 wakeups will be rough for them... not as rough as my 5:30.
Remember forever. We made some good memories, pool, zoos, parks, picnics, visits to the farm. I have taken hundreds of pictures this summer so we can always remember our fun time!
Omaha Zoo. We went to the Omaha Zoo twice this summer. Once with Nick's family and once with mine. It is such a great zoo. The polar bear was swimming the second time, which is my favorite, and I was so excited Wes got to see that. The penguins at the aquarium were a favorite of Wesley's, along with the train, of course.
Freedom from schedules. Life during the school year is so nuts, so I enjoyed a much more relaxed schedule. Peeing when I needed to instead of between classes when I can is not overrated. I will miss that among other things!
2 kids. My first summer with two kids. Harder but so awesome. Love those babies!
0 boredom. I definitely had no time for boredom this summer!
1st summer with Norah. Hard to believe my sweet girl will be 1 in just a few weeks.
3 pre-nap story times. Between Wesley's one nap a day and Norah's two, I read lots and lots of books. Nick shared bedtime duties, of course. Soon, I will be back to high school literature, which I love, but I will miss the kids' favorite stories. Have You Ever Tickled a Tiger is Norah's and Wesley's is Color Train.
