Wes is 3!

Today is Wesley's third birthday. I am spending it .... at parent-teacher conferences, which is kind of a bummer. But... I am off tomorrow and all of next week, so it is the price I pay. We will celebrate tomorrow! It's crazy to look at pictures of Wes-man and see how he has changed the last three years. It's hard to imagine that three years ago at this time, I was waking up from my post-epidural nap with a couple of hours of pushing ahead of me!

We taught Wes to tell people how old he is. It sounds more like Fee! than Three! but he is doing pretty well. He even responded when some of my co-workers asked how old he is when they were at school earlier.

Wes has his birthday party with Nick's family Sunday. It was supposed to be mid-afternoon, but we moved it up after the weather wasn't looking good. Nick's parents, Josh, Celie, Emi, and Caden came up. I made the Thomas cake, which I think turned out pretty well, but it was so. much. work. It took forever! Wes had to help mix, of course. I frosted it during his nap time. It's a good thing it was a super nap! He was delighted with the cake, so it was worth it, of course. I have to make it again when we celebrate with my family at Easter time. We are waiting since we leave for Florida Sunday, and I didn't think I would want to do it when we got back, either. For the Schuler party, We had lunch at Carlos O'Kelly's then came back for presents and cake. Wes is especially loving his Play Doh! He even got to play with it quite a bit because Monday was our 5th snow day of the year.

Wes is in size 8 or 9 shoes, 4t/5t socks, 3t shirts and pants. He wears size 5 diapers at night because Pull Ups just don't cut it overnight. I'd rather keep buying diapers than change sheets all the time! He's in 3t pull ups for naps and 4t undies.

Wesley loves cows still, and he loves Thomas, Cars, tractors, books, trains, and Norah, too. He doesn't often get jealous of Norah, but sometimes when I just sit down to feed her, he will tell me he wants to cuddle with Mommy. Most of the time he doesn't mind sharing me with her. If another kid sits by me when I feed her at daycare over my lunch, though, then that is mostly the end of the world. He gets super mad. Wesley also really likes to play on the iPad or our phones. There's a wheels on the bus ap that he loves. I bought the full version in hopes that it will keep him busy on the plane Sunday.

Bedtime for Wes is 8. We normally go upstairs at 7:30. Nick and I each read 3 books and he has a drink and snack. Then he brushes teeth and goes to the bathroom. Then PJs are on and it's time to be tucked in. Sometimes he sleeps with his Thomas Pillow, sometimes Boo the cow, and sometimes just the blankets. He really likes his Thomas blanket or the tie blanket I made with Thomas on one side and ISU on the other. (He's a great little Cyclone fan)! On weekdays he gets up around 6:15. On weekends, he will normally sleep in until 7. Nap is at 1 or 1:30, and he sleeps and hour to two hours. Sometimes he has the marathon 3 hour naps.

He has not really liked the snow this winter until Sunday's snow. I decided I would try to take him out to play since it wasn't too cold out and it was the good rolling snow. He had a blast. We made a little snowman, and the neighbor's little boy who is about 6 months younger than Wes played for a little while, too. Wes did not want to come in! He and Nick played outside last night, too. The best thing about DST is that it's lighter darker! Wes did not enjoy the getting up earlier. Tuesday and Wednesday he did NOT want to get up. Today he did okay because we woke him up by singing "Happy Birthday" and Wes thought that was super cool. I guess that's the trick! We will be another hour ahead in Florida, but I think the later schedule is good for vacation, so we will probably just adjust that way. I'd rather get up at 8 and have him stay up until 9!

We've been pumping him up for the trip. If you ask him where he is going on the play he will say "beach and ocean!" I hope he does well on the plane! We have some birthday surprises being saved for the flight. Mom got him a coloring book with stickers. Nick and I got him some color wonder marker books. I also downloaded an episode of Mickey Mouse Club House to the iPad and Cars 2 as well. He is getting some kid friendly headphones, too, so hopefully he doesn't make too many enemies on the flight!!

He loves to play with his cozy coupe, and was super disappointed when I told him it wouldn't go in the snow. I am going to take him to Play Pals so he can drive and drive tomorrow. I hate that I barely saw him today, but I fully intend to make up for it tomorrow!

I'll update with his height and weight after his well check up at the end of the month. I am taking both kids at the same time. 6 months and 3 years. Eek. I wish I could pause the time sometimes. I still haven't gotten around to getting his 3 years pics scheduled, but they will come soon, too.
