16 months

Wesley is 16 months old. He is starting to walk more and more. I think he still prefers crawling, but he is becoming more willing to be a bi-ped. He tends to crawl in public or when he is trying to be fast.

He is size 4 diapers and either 9-12 or 12-18 month clothing with a few t-shirts that are 2T. I am starting to regret buying some 24 month onesies as I am not sure he will be fitting in the before potty training. I guess that depends when he is ready for that.

Wesley loves his backyard pool, water table, and even his swing. He loves going on his slide into his pool. He loves to ride in his wagon, too. For outings, he loves the libraries, the mall play place, and the pool. His favorite part of the aquatic center is the lazy river. He has even taken a few naps while riding around the river.

Speaking of naps, Wesley hates them this week. He is fighting me tooth and nail. He won't nap and then he crashes. Tuesday it was at a restaurant after moving Allyssa, Wednesday it was in the lazy river, and today on the floor in his bedroom. Yeah, that's right, the hard wood floor. He was grumpy through his 1 hour nap, so I made him stay in his room and have somewhat quiet time with his books. He got tired and pulled a blanket out of his crib, balled it up and used it as a pillow and went to sleep. I couldn't get a pic because I didn't dare move from the rocking chair and wake him up. I attempted a nap, but I just ended up with a stiff neck and my arms asleep. Maybe I should have opted for the rug....

Wesley loves books, and I love buying them. I have been checking some out from the Ames library, and trying to make sure I know what I am ordering from Amazon. He loves the touch and feel books now, especially Touch and Feel Farm from Aunt Celie and Uncle Josh and That's Not My Penguin from Grandma and Grandpa. He continues to love his finger puppet books. My current favorites are Hippos Go Bezerk; Moo, Baa, LaLaLa; Mr. Brown Can Moo, I Love You Through and Through; and On the Night You Were Born. Nick loves to read The Little Critter books, Little Crab (a finger puppet book), and Dr. Suess books, especially Oh, the Places You'll Go (Pop-up version).

Wesley continues to love bananas, strawberries, raisins (especially yogurt-covered ones!), cheeseburgers, hot dogs, quesadillas, green beans, and mandrian oranges. He had his first taste of marshmellows this month and loves them! He did not, however, like Oreos. He still loves mustard and sour cream but wants NOTHING to do with ketchup.

Wesley saw fireworks for the first time this month, and he said "bye" for the first time. His current vocabulary consists of bye and touchdown. I wish he would learn drink, mom, and food. I feel like if he knew those their would be less tantrums and whining. But, this too shall pass. For the most part, Wesley and I are having a blast together and summer is slipping away too fast.

Wesley's grandparents are going to Alaska tomorrow for 2 weeks. They asked what Wesley wanted, and he put in his request for a pet penguin or moose. We'll see how that pans out! ;)

This weekend marks by first weekend away, and some father-son bonding time for Wes and Nick.

I haven't done the monthly onesie pic yet, so I will add that later.
