Once my kids' adorable Christmas clothes came in from GiaRoseDesigns, I attempted to take their pics in front of our tree. It did not go well.
Though I like the one of them looking at the tree, I knew I needed to get their pics taken professionally to have a shot at cute pics of their smiling faces in their new clothes. I found a photographer who was doing a Christmas photo special with the digital files sent the day of the session, so we used her. Nick actually took the kids by himself as she only had weekday mornings open. He took them on a Wednesday and the pics turned out pretty cute.
You can tell they were in crazy moods for the pics. For $75 and pics back the same day, I was happy. I fully expect them to hate me for the kissing picture but I love it so much!
Another highlight was Wesley's first Christmas concert on December 10. My parents, Allyssa, Jordan, Nick's mom, and Emily all came to see our little man sing his heart out. Look how handsome he was!
I love that he was looking for us as he came out!
Here he is waving.
And singing.
They sang three songs and PreK was first so they could leave. 4 year olds sitting through a concert of preK-8th grade would not happen. Norah would have never made it either as watching he bro was more than enough!
Here's Jordan's video of Wesley's songs. It was nice that Wesley had such a big group to support him. It's hard that we don't live close to a lot of family sometimes, so it was nice that people came so far. We went out to eat afterwards, which was nice, too.
One Sunday after church, the kids opened their gifts from Nick's grandparents.
Norah loves her Minnie pjs and purse and Wes loved his truck with light up wheels so much that it went to school for show and tell the next day.
Wesley also had a craft night at preschool that Nick and I took him too. We built a foam Gingerbread house and he made two ornaments for the tree. He also decorated cookies. It was fun to see him interact with his teachers and classmates/friends.
The Saturday before Christmas, we went to my aunt Angie's for our annual cookie day. We baked and frosted lots of cookies. Wesley liked to help choose shapes, Norah liked to eat cookies. Wes liked that, too, but he was a little more into the whole process. They also have a tree that goes around their tree so both kids enjoyed that! I wish we had more room to do that, but we don't... maybe someday.
Christmas Eve morning the kids opened their gifts from us and each other.
Wes was excited for his ISU outfit and hot wheels stuff.
Norah's Christmas gifts centered around Doc McStuffins and things for her "new" Minnie Mouse kitchen. It's a hand me down from me when I was little. She needed new pots and pans and food, but for a Minnie lover like Norah it's a good kitchen!
When Wesley opened this loop, he said "I've wanted one of these my whole life." It was adorable but definitely copied from Polar Express. :)
The kids got me some bath stuff and a new coffee cup. Wesley made us two ornaments at preschool too. He had a hard time waiting to give them to us. He brought them home about a week before and wanted us to open them, but I convinced him to put them under the tree. After gifts and cinnamon rolls the kids had to chose what would come with and we headed to my parents' house.
We went to church in Griswold with my family and Grandma. Then back to Mom and Dad's for lasagna and getting ready for Santa.
Cookies & milk by the fireplace.
The kids actually slept until 7 or so. Wesley was so excited for Santa. Santa brought books as he always does. Wesley got some farm toys (Case IH, of course) and Norah got the Doc McStuffins Mobile cart.
The kids wanted to play with their toys from Santa before opening gifts, which was great because it provided the opportunity to get coffee.
The kids were spoiled. Norah loves her new Minnie from Seth and Tammy. We've all enjoyed the magnetic blocks Lyss and Jordan gave her. She got a new stuffed Doc McStuffins from Mama and Pop Pop that she loves and a cute ISU tunic for spring and summer. Wes got some new big kid Legos from Seth and Tammy and a styling ISU pull over from Titi and Jordan. Grandma and Pop Pop have made it a yearly tradition to buy him new snow boots. Of course, they never last two years :( They also got him a TagReader that he is enjoying.
Nick and I were spoiled too. Nick got some new tools and I got the FitBit I have been lusting after. We also got family pool and zoo passes, which we will appreciate when it warms up.
We had breakfast with my family and then headed to Nick's family Christmas around noon. With all the kids, his Christmas was super crazy and I don't have a ton of pics but Nick's parents took some of all the kids together and some of the four of us, so I will add those when I get them.
Wesley is in the open all the presents as fast as he can stage so it was hard for me to try to keep track of what came from whom for thank you notes, but I will do my best. Norah got lots of cute new clothes. Luckily, there is a lot of pink because she has been asking to wear pink almost every day. She got the cutest little Under Armor yoga pants and shirt that I need to get a pic of. She also got some dishes and other things for her kitchen. Wes got some nice new clothes and PJs, as well as more farm toys and Hot Wheels track. We bought a new tote for his Hot Wheels now. His old box won't hold it all anymore! The kids are also obsessed with their new slippers from Nick's mom. Wesley wants to wear them outside and told me he can't wait to tell his teachers about them. I was spoiled too and got the red coffee maker to match my Kitchen Aid mixers and other accessories. It looks pretty on my counter. :)
The last two years we have done an adult gift exchange with Nick's family, which is a fun new tradition. We allow steals so it makes it more interesting.
Wesley really enjoyed playing with his cousins. Norah was in a mood all day. A short night and no nap along with lots of sweets made for a grumpy girl. She did have fun playing but was sort of a mess the whole time we were there!
