I told Wes he will be a freshman at ISU in 14 years :)
Wesley’s favorite part about preschool is gym class, which
he has on Thursdays. He sings his songs from music class all the time- in the
car, at the dinner table, and In bed at night. He likes riding with his BFF
Jayde most days, but he also likes riding the bus on Mondays with his buddy
(whom I don’ t know). He also enjoys show and tell on Mondays. So far he has
taken a toy tractor/wagon, Mr. Tall (his “pet” giraffe as Wes calls him), field
corn (thanks, Pop Pop!), Toby and the library car (Thomas), and tomorrow, he is
taking a picture from our trip to visit some of the Cy statues. We hit 13 this
weekend, including 12 today.
Today, I decided Wes and I needed a mom/son date while Norah
napped, so we went all over Ames so Wes could see and pose with all the Cys. He
chose Fareway’s Cy as his favorite- ExCYted to Serve.
Besides preschool, Wes is loving fall for the football games
(he is too little to care about the Cyclones playing terribly, he just loves
tailgating and playing football on the hillside), leaves that are crunchy and
changing colors, and Center Grove.
We’ve been to Center Grove 3 times already and are planning
another trip on Sunday with our neighbors, including Wesley’s other BFF, Nate.
He loves the corn pool, pedal tractors, and big slide. We picked apples one
time because they had read a book at school about dinosaurs picking apples, so
he just had to!
Wesley’s latest skill is writing his name. He did it the
first time in Jamie’s birthday card last week and he had it on a paper from
school this week, too. It’s obviously doing him some good to be at school
because I could only ever get a W out
of him. His e’s are upside down, but
it will come!
They had school pictures on Friday, so I should have that to
show off soon. I decided to order the disk, so hopefully it’s a decent picture.
I plan to get the kids pics taken around Christmas. I tried to take some for
Norah’s two year photos today and it didn’t go well. It got cold and windy and
neither kid wanted to smile. We had family pics done this summer, and we did
individuals of the kids then and in March, so we have some somewhat recent ones
anyway. I need to get better with my camera.
Anyway, I digress. Wesley is an awesome kid about 95% of the
time. His doddling is making me crazy lately. It seriously takes him forever to
get moving in the morning. Having to feed him breakfast before school has been
a tad exhausting!
He is still in a diaper at night. We will have dry days here
and there (we even had 3 last week) but then he will be super wet and we end up
changing sheets on top of it all. He’s just not there yet. Hopefully by the
time his birthday rolls around we can say goodbye to diapers at night. I use
the Huggies easy ups, which are like PullUps but they absorb more because pull
ups don’t cut it at night. He easily stays dry for naps.
We moved into a new stage- the era of fundraisers. Wes got his first fundraiser packet the second week or so of preschool. I dutifuly bought some frozen food as well as Jamie, a few of Nick's coworkers and my mom. Ah, it begins. Of course, I already get hit up many, many times per year, but now I have to be responsible for selling too. Eek!
Wesley's favorite song is currently "All about the Bass." Yeah, I preferred the short stint with "Shake it Off." Some of the lyrics in "All about the Bass" aren't great for a preschooler. It was probably time to move on from "Roar" and "Let it Go."
So, what is my favorite four year old looking forward to? Harvest. Cupcake baking party with Snow White in a couple of weeks (I hope he isn't the only boy there, but he won't care). Night Eyes. Halloween.
