15 Months

Norah is 15 months old today, and it occurs to me that I have been a huge slacker on my blog. So what's new since 1 year when I last blogged?

In November, we started physical therapy with ChildServe to help with her Gross Motor Delays. Our current goals- crawling, pulling up, bearing weight, getting from crawling position to sitting and vice versa, and of course, eventually walking.

She goes every Tuesday morning at 8 AM, and Nick takes the bulk of her appointments. We are very lucky that his boss is letting him be flexible on his hours, so he typically stays late on Tuesday and a little late Monday and Wednesday to make up the time. At her appointment on Dec 10, her therapist, Jill, suggested that we get in touch with Early Access, so Norah will be evaluated by them January 9. Nick and I will need to be there the first couple of appointments, but then the therapist will visit Jamie's house.

We are hoping to continue with ChildServe as well, but our insurance is fighting us on paying, and out of pocket, it is expensive when we are doing weekly appointments. Nick's HR person talked to the insurance company, and I *think* we have found a solution, so any positive thoughts towards that are appreciated. It's enough to worry about Norah not hitting these milestones without the huge cost.

Norah doesn't enjoy physical therapy and has cried and cried at most appointments. She has hit stranger danger stage, so that is hard. We are hoping having Early Access see her at daycare (familiar setting) will help her feel more at ease. Her CS PT, Jill, said that she is just at a tough age to start PT.

When I broke my foot, earlier this month, I cut down our nursing sessions to twice a day, and since then, Norah isn't overly interested. I think our nursing days are numbered, which makes me very sad. She is in a huge daddy phase, so it was nice to have that time with her when she just wanted me.

As far as talking goes, she says hi, bye, what? (her favorite), dada, mama, up (another favorite), more,  and no. A few other words have been said, but those are her most regular.

She signs for more, waves hi and bye, and blows kisses. Blowing kisses is her favorite thing to do when she says good-bye. She also gives kisses and hugs now, though her kisses are a little slobbery.

Norah LOVES cats. Wes is my dog person, but Norah prefers kitties, hands down. She just got a stuffed Hello Kitty from my mom for Christmas, which she loves, and Seth and Tammy got her a cat piano that she likes as well!

She loves to eat cheese, mandarin oranges, cereal, applesauce, squeeze baby food/applesauce, vanilla wafers, graham crackers, bread, bananas, and milk. She went from hating whole milk to going through it like crazy in no time.

I never let Wes watch TV until the summer after he turned 2. I haven't managed to do that with Norah as she will watch with Wes. She loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and gets very excited when she hears the theme song. I limit her as much as possible, but hopefully a few minutes a day won't be too awful.

It's killing me to not be able to carry her around since I am on crutches now, so I am praying that my foot is healing as it should and I only have 4 weeks total of this. It's so hard to be a mom of two littles anyway, and this has been such a challenge for me!
