Vernix caseosa, a greasy white substance made of lanugo, oil and dead skin cells (yum) now coats baby's skin, shielding it from the amniotic fluid. (Picture yourself after a nine-month bath, and the need for protection makes sense.) You might actually get to see the vernix at birth, especially if baby is premature.
* How far along?: 19 weeks
* Total weight gain: up 5 or so if I was guessing
* How big is baby?: about 6 inches long and a half a pound
* Next appointment: May 25 at 8:30
* Maternity clothes?: That's about all I wear. One of my shirts has a stain on it.... ugh, I don't have enough anyway. Heading to Duck Worth Wearing tonight. Pregnancies during the same season would've made that a lot easier! Almost everything from Wes is long sleeved.
* Stretch marks?: No new ones
* Sleep?: I'm up 1-2 times a night to go the the bathroom. Hate sleeping on my side but I am trying!
* Best moment this week?: I can't think of anything too exciting? Getting maternity capris and shorts, I guess. I am so lame. I had lots of fun with Wes, but that's not pregnancy related. I guess we've been working on getting him to say baby and he was trying. not quite there.
* Movement?: still sporadic.
* Food cravings?: sweets. ugh. I need to get past that phase. Nick went and got me a snickers blizzard last night. At least I had mostly salad for dinner in attempt to balance. THat Blizzard was good stuff, though!
* Pregnancy symptoms: acne, acne, acne. I hate it so.
* Labor signs?: no
* Belly button in or out?: In
*Gender: still debating whether we will find out.
* What I miss: having more than a few choices for clothes.
* What I'm looking forward to: ultrasound.
* Milestone: Baby is now startled by loud noises and his or her brain is developing the parts that help with smell and taste.
