Wesley's two year stats:
33.5 inches (25%ile)
27.6 lb (44%ile)
Head 49.2 cm (50%ile)
Wesley's 2 year appointment was a couple of weeks ago. He did great at his appointment and let Dr. Nau and I talk until the last few minutes, and then he had to be bribed with a sucker. The sucker worked great and let us talk. It also kept him from shedding a single tear when the nurse came in to give him his shot.
Wesley is growing fine and percentiles are similar to what they've been at since a year. He still had fluid in one ear, so we did steroid to try to clear that up. He goes back in three weeks to see if the fluid is gone. Dr. Nau is trying to avoid tubes because Wes may outgrow the ear issues by winter (when infection is more common), but if the fluid doesn't drain, we aren't seeing another option, especially with Wesley's language delay. We did the CHAT questionnaire again (yes, the one that FREAKED me out at his 18 month check). Wes is now meeting everything except spoken language expectations. Dr. Nau says a lot of kids don't do what they CAN do, it's more what they are happy with doing. Wes is pretty content and has Nick's and my attention, so he may just not see the point in talking.
After our appointment, we went to the lab. The wait was the most painful part for both of us, I think. When it was finally our turn Wes sat on my lap and had no issue with the finger prick. He thought it was quite interesting to see the tech squeeze his finger to get blood out and collect it. Not a tear here, either.
Then, we were off to the lab to get his steroids and some stronger hydrocortisone for his eczema. The over-the-counter stuff wasn't clearing it.
After that, Wes and I spent the day together since it was my day off after conferences. Nothing like a good mom-son bonding day! :)
