21 Months
There's my 1 3/4 year old! Wesley is acting more and more like he's hitting the terrible twos. He is Mr. Independent. He wants to do things himself, some of which he can do and others that make him mad. When we get ready in the morning, he brings his shoes to me or Nick- this is helpful. He also tries to zip his coat and gets mad when he can't. When I drop him off at daycare, he likes to take off his shoes and coat by himself and then walk over to get his booster chair on the chair. When I pick him up at daycare, he gets his shoes and jacket and gets mad if I try to do it for him! Then, he wants to open the door himself and I can't even think about carrying him to the car unless he's wearing his poncho on a cold day. It's too long for him to walk in, so he has to let me carry him then.
He's also quite the stripper these days. He can and does take off his shoes, socks, anything with a zipper, pants, etc, etc. We've found him naked a few mornings. Kinda scary! Luckily, no wet sheets....Yet.
He's a pro a running around our house or daycare and pushing cars, tractors or anything else with wheels. He's very interested in the Christmas tree and the bottom couple of feet seem to be decorated differently than they originally were. He is also in love with these singing snowman I got from Hallmark. I used to think they were cute, now they drive me nuts and sometimes get hidden.
I have also been hiding Dear Zoo and Animal Sounds periodically. Those are the books he wants to hear over and over. They both have flaps that he likes. I tried to get out other books with flaps and even bought a couple more, but they do not have the same appeal as those two.
He loves to sing Itsy Bitsy Spider over and over again, too. Or rather have me or Nick sing it and he does the actions.
His vocabulary includes- No, Hi, Bye (his most common/favorite word), Mama, and Dada. Talking is by no means a priority. He's getting better about using his sign language consistently- especially for more and all done!
We have a busy break planned even without making the trip to a bowl game. My parents decided it was too $ for a cold weather game, understandably.
Wesley will be enjoying lots of extra time with Mom and Dad, countless new toys, several Christmases, possibly a visit to a pool in Des Moines, and a bowl watching party.
