It's already time for another monthly update... Only a few more of these until he is 2. Then, I will probably cut back to every three months or so.
Wesley is still not talking. Occasionally, he will imitate our sounds, but he's just not talking. After his 18 month appointment with Dr. Nau, and a couple of other concerns based on the CHAT done during the 18 month appt, we are meeting with Early Access Thursday to have him evaluated. This is hard to even type, but my hope is that we are just dealing with language delay, and they will give us some things to do to help him out. Either way, we want to do what is best for my little boy. It's just a little hard to swallow that he might not be totally perfect, which is, of course, how I see him!
No matter what, Wesley is having fun with his mom and dad. He loves the outdoors. We spend lots of time in the yard. We visit the park a lot. We have been to Center Grove again, too, which he loves. This past time, we went on the hayride to pick pumpkins, so that was a lot of fun for all of us. We went on a BEAUTIFUL day. We are definitely trying to get the most out of these last warm days!
Nick and I have worked a little to get the basement ready to become Wesley's play area this summer. It's looking better but cleaning it all up reminded me how much I hate the carpet down there. However, it is just going to have to wait. Wesley will just be glad for some extra room to play, I think! There's a little more room down there for his riding toys and such. Plus, he just seems to need a change of scenery every so often, which he has been getting from the outdoors. I am DREADING winter. Most people who know me, know I would prefer summer year round, though I do enjoy spring and fall. I am not meant for Iowa winters, but this is where my family is and where our jobs are, so I stick it out.
Wesley is still wearing 18 month clothing and size 4 diapers. I keep getting emails from baby center, Parents, etc, and they are all asking if my child is ready to start thinking about potty training- the answer is NOT A CHANCE! As it is, I can't see him being ready at 2, but I guess time will tell. I was hoping to get him trained next summer, but he'll definitely have to change a lot before then for that to be a possibility. Though, sometimes he does change more than I could imagine, so time will tell.
I took Wes to the doctor Friday and we learned that he has ear infection #2. Poor little guy was having a very hard time sleeping, etc. Now (Sunday) he is starting to feel better. He napped with me today, which was good for both of us, as I was at my friend, Kelsey's bachelorette last night and needed some rest anyway. Tonight, we gave him some tylenol, thinking that would help the earache, and then he put his hand down his throat and made himself puke during story time. It was everywhere- on me, on him, on the chair, on the floor. Not my favorite trick... He was giggling the whole time. Crazy kid!
I'll update again after Thursday's consultation- send positive vibes our way.
I'm a little behind on your blog so I'm catching up. #1. Jack is 2 1/2 and just barely showing signs of being ready to potty train. I can't imagine he'll be trained by the time he's 3 but I hear if you wait til they're ready, it goes fast. So no pressure Wesley. :) #2. Jack likes Wesley's "Cyclone shirt" (he's sitting on my lapping "ready" blogs with me).
