Welsey's First Vacation: Great Wolf Lodge

Saturday, March 12, we had brunch at my parents' house, loaded up the RV and headed for Kansas City, KS. It was a smooth trip other than having to replace a belt in Clarinda. It was nice that we could all (us, Mom, Dad, Lyss, and Jordan) ride together and have room for our stuff.

When we got their Saturday, we checked out the waterpark for an hour or so and then it was time (past time, actually) for Wesley to go to bed. We then had pizza and played cards.

Sunday, we left Great wolf to see the sights. We ate at IHOP (yum- I had blueberry but whole grain pancakes), and then we went to NFM (had to see Tammy's other store!) and Cabela's. Welsey feel asleep in the car cart at NFM. So cute! When we got back, it was time for Wesley's nap. He laid down for a few minutes but then decided he didn't need a nap. The boys were golfing, but when we got back, Nick, Dad, Wes and I went to the waterpark. Welsey and I floated on the river while Nick and Dad went on some slides. Then, Nick and I swapped and Wesley took a nap as he floated with Nick! I wish I would have had my camera. It was so precious!

That night, we went out to eat at T-Rex Cafe a few miles away. It was really neat, but we had to wait and Wesley got pretty grumpy. The waiters did sing a happy birthday song for him and bring and ice cream sundae. Welsey LOVED ice cream and enjoyed part of the chocolate chip cookie they brought him, too. He had awful gas that night, though, so I think we will avoid the ice cream for a while! That night, Wesley was up from midnight to 1:30 or so and my sister announced she was never having kids. She was kidding.... I think... When Wes went to bed that night, Nick stayed with him and the rest of us enjoyed the hot tub for a few minutes. Then we all played cards.

Monday, March 14, was Wesley's first birthday! We went to the water park early in the day. Dad and Wes hung out and the rest of us hit the slides. Wesley even when on the little slide. He looked a little terrified, so we only did it once. He didn't scream just seemed unsure! Wesley ended up needing a nap while we were there and feel asleep on his Aunt Allyssa for the better part of an hour. I offered to take him, but she didn't have the heart to risk waking him. Such a good aunt!

After the park, we headed for lunch at the strip mall. It was a brewery, but the name has escaped me. Then, we went shopping. Wesley's wardrobe greatly expanded at Carter's outlet and Gymboree.

When we got back to the hotel, Wesley got a stuffed wolf, which they stuffed in front of him.

We went back to the waterpark later, too. That night, we ate in the hotel and then took some pics in the lobby. Wesley was ready to go home then, I think. He wanted NOTHING to do with his pack n play. I eventually went and got the stroller and we pushed him around the hotel until he finally went to sleep.

We packed up the next morning and headed back to my parents'. Here is Wesley with his Dad and Uncle before we left.
