15 Months!

Wesley is 15 months old! His biggest accomplishments this month are standing and walking. He still doesn't love either but is doing both of these things more and more often. Standing is most often achieved by distraction. Walking is most often towards me, but he is starting to walk to a few others and towards other objects at the pool and mall play place.

He is still in size 4 diapers and is still wearing 9-12 and 12-18 month clothing. Last time I weighed him on the Wii he was about 23 lbs. He will tolerate soft-soled shoes but doesn't want much to do with them, let alone hard-soled shoes.

His awareness of strangers is growing more and more prevalent and he is definitely a mama's boy. He yells when I leave him (except at Jamie's) and smiles and laughs when I return. Since it is summer, this most often happens when I am leaving for and returning from Zumba and Step Class. He does love his daddy, but for now, he seems to prefer me. He still nurses morning and night, but I am going away for a weekend about a month from now, so I am hoping to wean him within the next month. Part of me is sad and part of me is glad. I am probably more on the sad side. I don't know how to be a mom without being a nursing mom. I don't know if that even makes since.... I love our cuddle time, but I will not pump again. I can't bring myself to pump, and I know I want to wean before school starts up again this August, so I'll do it by girl's weekend.

Wesley is fighting going to sleep. He used to fuss a little at naps and never at night, but now he fusses some nights and gets really mad at nap time. He will NOT be rocked to sleep, etc, so it amounts to having to let him cry for a couple of minutes. I hope this stage passes soon.

He is up to ten teeth. Two front bottom, four front top, and 4 molars. I suspect he's working on the other front bottom too, but more fussiness than swollen at this point.

The week ahead marks Nick's second Father's Day as a dad (camping) and Wesley's first trip to Omaha (a mini-vacay to the Children's Museum and HD Zoo). He'll be at Jamie's two days next week, so I can take a class. Next Friday, he will participate in Walk for the Cure in Atlantic for his Great Aunt Angie. I am hoping he will walk holding hands at least, because he is a pro at that! Tomorrow will hopefully be a day at the pool with his cousins!
