11 Months

Valentine's Day marks Wesley's 11 month birthday! Holy cow. Here's what he is up to:

He crawls and climbs ALL. THE. TIME. He is starting to cruise, but he doesn't go far with that yet.

We've packed away most of his 6-9 clothes, so he is wearing almost exclusively 9-12 now. He is in size 4 diapers. He could still fit into size 3s when we switched over, but they weren't holding enough. Many days, Wesley ended up in an extra outfit at daycare. Apparently, Wesley has a big bladder!

Toys are still not as exciting as cords, cat water, and drawers. I keep busy chasing him around. The toys he likes best now are his tractors and his racetrack. Of course, he still works up a smile for Scout when he sees him. I am hoping he gets some use out of his birthday toys. Nick and I got him MegaBlocks and a ride-on toy. I bought both at xmas time. I said I was done shopping but kept buying things, so they got put away for the birthday. We also bought several books.

Wes loves books, and his birthday will be themed on The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. We will spend his actual birthday in KC at Great Wolf Lodge. We'll have a party for my family the Friday before at my parents' house. Nick is still figuring things out. Besides Eric Carle, we are enjoying the finger puppet books (we have lady bug, duck, penguin, giraffe, polar bear, snowman, reindeer, lion, and cow), The Night You Were Born, The Runaway Bunny, Goodnight Moon, and Dr. Suess. We read books before bedtime and before naps on the weekends. We also read some during the day. During the day, Wesley likes his little people books with the flaps or his Elmo book from his aunt Celie and his uncle Josh.

Wesley loves chicken quesadillas, peaches, apples, mandarin oranges, grilled cheese sandwiches, carrots, bananas, graham crackers, spaghetti and meatballs, yogurt melts, and puffs. We've been working on giving him more variety of finger foods. It was so easy with containers of baby food. Now, it takes more of an effort. Frozen fruits and veggies have been a big help. Grapes are starting to get good too. I am excited to try strawberries (MY FAVORITE!) with him in a month. They are a no-no for babies along with peanut butter and egg whites. With the new foods we have been trying, we have been bathing him more than just our every other night routine we had going. When he puts messy hands in his hair, there's not much else to do!

He does love bath time. I like it because he stays in one spot for the most part. :) He does try to climb the tub. Another thing he likes to do is pull himself up in the crib and bounce on the bed. Where does he learn this stuff? It's like it is imbedded into the Y chromosome!

We are doing 1 year pics Saturday, Feb. 19. I am excited. We are using a new photographer. Sarah Moore in Boone. Nick's co-worker (who did his 6 (7) month pics) is too busy as he took on another job. Sarah has taken pics of my friends Trisha's and Amanda's kids and she seems to do good work! We ordered a birthday hat and shirt off of Etsy for some pics and I need to pick out one more outfit.

Wesley loves daycare. He loves Jamie, and he loves the other kids. He is getting stranger anxiety at other places. Friday after school, he and I went to La Carreta with some former co-workers of mine and he took a while to warm up to them. I enjoyed the clingy cuddles as I don't get those nearly as much as I used to.
