6 Month update

Wesley had his six month appointment a little early on September 3. He weighed 14 lbs, 1 oz and was 25.25 inches long. His height is in 17th %ile and weight continues to be sub-5th. He did pretty well with his shots again. Cried but was fine later. Mostly just sleepy.

Wesley has started sitting unassisted for very limited amounts of time (like a few seconds) when he's in a good mood. We are going to do 6 month pictures when he can do this a little better.

Wesley got his first two teeth this month. The first broke through August 17 and the other followed shortly after.

I finally packed away most of Wesley's 0-3 clothing. He could still fit into some but was mostly getting too tall. I was sad to pack away some of those cute things. He is almost exclusively wearing 3-6 clothing now. It's still big, so I imagine it will be fitting for a while longer. The only 9 month stuff he is wearing is his ISU FB jersey, which we bought before he was born not knowing he was going to be such a peanut. He's wearing size 2 diapers, and we have started putting him in 2-3s at night.

Wesley rolls a lot now, which isn't helping his sleeping patterns. He hates, hates, hates to be on his stomach. In the middle of the night he can't seem to remember that he can roll the other way. Then, once he is up, he pretty much always refuses to eat without being fed. This means he went from sleeping 10 hours (sometimes 10.5 or 11) a night almost every single night to getting up once if not twice and only sleeping from 8-5 most of the time. This has definitely been a negative change this month!

After Wesley's 6 month appointment, we have started giving him fruits and veggies. He has been eating rice cereal and oatmeal for a while and done well with it. We started with green beans. He's had them quite a few times and is not impressed. We moved on to apples next and he likes them. Then, when my mom was here babysitting, she started him on carrots, which he loves. Today, he had bananas the first time and LOVED them. He kept getting mad when we took too long to give him another spoonful.

It's hard to believe my baby is a half of a year old already. I can't believe his is growing up so fast. Also, as of the 14th, I made it to my goal of exclusively breastfeeding for 6 months. Since I have been back at work this has been HARD. I will probably start cutting a pumping while I am at work and when my freezer stash is gone, I will start supplementing. I am sad to be starting to wean, but I am hoping to make it at least part time for a few more months. My supply has been a struggle, so I wonder how cutting a feeding will go. I have to do it for my sanity though.

Wesley is doing well at daycare. He has fun there and really likes Jamie. I still like to think he loves me the best, but I am not sure I am as entertaining as the kids at daycare.

I am looking forward to taking Wesley to his first football game within the next month. (He stayed home from the opener since it was a 7PM kickoff. A student of mine babysat.) I am also looking forward to dressing him up for Halloween. I have a costume, but I kept the tags on and the receipt just in case.

Wesley's hair is still crazy all the time. Nick thinks we should cut it, but I plan to resist that for a long time to come!
